Places utility allows users to customize Windows 'Save As' dialog. People that find themselves browsing through directories in 'Save As' dialog to organize their downloaded data or other files will benefit from this simple program (see the usage examples).

Organizing information you download from the Internet (and other files) can be quite a chore. The standard Save As dialog provides five starting places to save your file: History, My Documents, Desktop, Favorites, and Network.
Users who want to save their files in specific locations find themselves browsing back and forth between their target folders. Or they give up and save almost all files in one folder.
Places allows for customizing the 'places' in the Save As dialog. So, instead of History, My Documents, Desktop, Favorites and Network you can assign specific folders where you actually want to place your download data. These folders can be located anywhere on your system (i.e. drive A:, B:, C:, D:...). An example of customized Save As dialog is shown below.
